some photos I took with a camera that cost me 50p

I love wandering around charity shops, and second hand shops - you guys in America call it thrifting right? Idk I'm British... but if I'm out and around town, usually tend to go around those kinda shops looking for old stuff. And that was where I found an old digital camera: the Traveler DC-6900 for 50 pence...

50p is just a bonkers price for a camera, again for American peoples that's the equivalent of 50 cents, so obviously I brought it just to see what it was like. I later learned it was a German brand camera from 2009.

On the back of the LCD the photos looked quite grainy and washed out. So I was a little bit worried, but it turns out, once I got them on my PC that they look pretty good! You could change all the settings, shot in different modes, and I did test all of them but I generally kept it on auto when shooting with it, and let the camera calculate everything for me.

I'm usually an advocate for having more manual control but with these cameras, you want to spend less time getting the settings right, and more time just getting the photos. But it is still nice to have that option if you should ever need it. At the highest setting the Traveler DC-6900 shot 2816x2112 resolution photos so plenty large enough for sharing and printing by today's standard really! And a 34mm - 102mm 35mm equivalent lens, so quite a broad length between being wide angle and zooming in but not super extreme in any direction.

I carried it around Birmingham and shot a whole bunch of photos with it and really enjoyed using it. There's a lot of fun to be had with these old digital cameras that nowadays you can pick up used or second hand for pennies. And just because they aren't the latest model with the latest shiny features, doesn't mean they won't do a serviceable job. I feel like you could still use a camera like this today really and it would be fine! Although not for shooting video, the video was terrible..
